The University of Leicester is seeking a Research Assistant to support an innovative project within the Leicester Medical School focused on addressing the gender health gap through the development and evaluation of educational resources. Funded by the Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare, this project forms part of the MBChB programme and aims to enhance empathetic approaches to healthcare education. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Jennifer Creese, Dr Yitong Li and Dr Marina Politis to support the planning, facilitation and evaluation of project activities.

This temporary position is based within the Leicester Medical School, College of Life Sciences, and offers hybrid working arrangements, with some duties required on campus. The role is available from October 2026 until 31 March 2027, comprising 90 hours of work with flexible working days and times agreed in advance.

Applicants should have evidence of an honours degree and/or relevant experience together with practical experience of applying research skills, including mixed-methods research approaches. Candidates must be able to demonstrate research potential, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outputs. A collaborative approach and commitment to continued development of subject expertise are also essential.

A master's degree, current PhD study, experience of focus group facilitation, and an interest in medical or healthcare education would be advantageous. Knowledge of health inequalities, the gender health gap, and empathy in healthcare would also be beneficial.

Hybrid/flexible, with some duties required at the University of Leicester campus (all remote work must be completed in the UK).
