The Gallery Assistant Facilitator role is an essential delivery position at Attenborough Arts Centre, University of Leicester, supporting the Centre’s mission of Art for All. The post works directly with children and families at weekends and during special events throughout the year, encouraging public engagement and creative responses to exhibitions and performance programmes, while also supporting Learning and Communities activity across Leicester. The post holder will join a team of Gallery Assistant Facilitators within the Learning and Communities team, working collaboratively with artists, schools and community groups, including children, young people, families and people with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children and families at weekends and during special events, encouraging public engagement and creative responses to exhibitions and performance programmes.
  • Support Learning and Communities activity across Leicester.
  • Collaborate with artists, schools and community groups to deliver activities that meet the Arts Council England Let’s Create strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
  • Good IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Broadly related experience in the arts, including experience of working with children and young people.
  • Strong written English skills, attention to detail, effective time management and a methodical approach to work.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer care and administrative support.

Other Requirements

  • Applicants must be able to work effectively as part of a team, manage changing priorities and apply relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential.
  • The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 because the appointee will have substantial access to young people and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, an appointment to this post will be subject to DBS clearance with an Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce check.
