THE ROLE
DMU Marketing and Communications Department is recruiting a Communications Officer to work full-time, 37 hours per week. The role is hybrid: 2 days in office at DMU and 3 days remote. The Communications Officer plays a key role in creating compelling content, supporting communications plans that forward strategic objectives, working closely with decision makers and stakeholders, and using internal platforms effectively.
Expected start date: ASAP
Expected end date: 8.12.2026
Rate of pay: £16.62
Holiday Pay: £2.59
Experience / Content Skills:
- Extensive experience producing high-quality content across digital, social media, CMS, intranet, email, newsletters, face-to-face.
- Understanding of internal and external audiences and innovative engagement strategies.
- Experience creating and implementing effective communications plans.
- Extensive corporate copywriting experience: speeches, brochure, web and social media content.
- Extensive knowledge of social media platforms: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn.
- Ability to challenge facts and figures routine and robustly.
- Ability to use metrics and reporting to review and improve communications.
- Stakeholder management experience.
- Proven experience working with key stakeholders to maintain relationships.
- Experience in a pressure-driven environment in a complex organisation.
- Experience managing multiple projects for multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
Attitude: Positive, proactive, can-do approach to challenging targets.
Higher Education Experience: Experience working in HE or thorough understanding of the sector.
Expert Liaison: Experience working with specialists (e.g., academics).
Qualifications: Degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
