Our client is looking for a skilled and hands on Pattern Maker or Tooling Technician to join their manufacturing team. The role focuses on producing, maintaining and improving pattern tooling used in castings, and they welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds with transferable practical skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong craftsmanship experience, whether from wood, metal, composites, model making, joinery, prototyping or toolmaking, who is interested in applying their skills within a specialist engineering environment. Training and support will be provided where needed.
Responsibilities
- Support the production and modification of patterns, moulds and tooling using wood, resin, metal or composite materials
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on existing tooling to support production uptime
- Interpret engineering drawings or three dimensional models, with full training provided if needed
- Collaborate with technical and production teams to resolve moulding or tooling issues
- Contribute ideas for process improvement and help to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure all work meets internal quality and safety standards
- Maintain workshop equipment, tools and accurate development records
Skills and Experience
We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in:
- CNC or toolmaking
- Composite moulding
- Prototyping or workshop fabrication
- General mechanical or engineering workshop roles
If you have strong practical skills, take pride in craftsmanship and enjoy hands on work, we would be keen to hear from you. We are open minded about previous experience. You may have:
- Experience in pattern making, tooling, model making, carpentry, machining, prototyping or a related hands on craft
- An apprenticeship or technical training, which is desirable but not essential
- Experience with CAD CAM software, which would be an advantage but is not required
Full training in foundry specific processes, materials and techniques will be provided.
