As the Client Success Manager (Account Manager), you'll be the client lead on several client accounts. This role is about building meaningful partnerships, managing expectations, and uncovering opportunities for growth. It's not about managing the nuts and bolts of delivery - it's about strategy, collaboration, and ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way.
You’ll act as the vital link between clients and internal teams, aligning goals, fostering trust, and driving success. You will assess digital marketing activity at a high level, interpret data and campaign performance, and recommend adjustments to strategies to ensure objectives are achieved.
Duties and responsibilities
- Client Relationships: Build trust as the primary contact for clients, understanding their business goals, challenges, and ambitions. Ensure client satisfaction by delivering exceptional service, clear communication, and tailored solutions. Proactively identify growth opportunities through upselling, cross-selling, and expanding service offerings.
- Digital Marketing: Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of key digital channels, including paid media, organic social, email marketing, SEO, content marketing, marketing automation and analytics. Understand how different channels support distinct commercial objectives such as lead generation, brand growth, customer retention and revenue. Advise clients on how digital activity fits within wider business strategy, sales processes and growth plans. Interpret campaign performance data and assess effectiveness against agreed KPIs. Evaluate return on investment and guide clients towards commercially sound decisions. Challenge underperformance constructively and recommend strategic adjustments. Collaborate with internal specialists to ensure strategy aligns with delivery, without being responsible for hands-on execution.
- Client Partnership and Strategy: Act as a trusted strategic partner, proactively reviewing campaign performance and identifying opportunities to improve results through strategic adjustments. Analyse data to interpret marketing outcomes, make ROI-focused recommendations, and align efforts with client business goals. Identify potential bottlenecks or challenges within client-side processes (e.g., sales pipelines) and consult clients on how to address these effectively. Collaborate with the marketing team to align strategic marketing insights with campaign execution, ensuring all activities support measurable outcomes. Communicate strategic recommendations across the team and secure buy-in for new or adjusted approaches.
- Account Growth and Profitability: Manage budgets to keep accounts profitable while delivering exceptional value. Drive contract renewals and maintain high client retention. Track metrics of success, including client growth and satisfaction.
Skills and experience
- Relationship Building: Proven experience engaging with key stakeholders, building trust and rapport, and effectively influencing others.
- Digital Marketing Expertise: Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and how they contribute to commercial growth. Able to interpret performance data, connect activity to ROI, and advise clients on how digital supports wider business objectives. Confident in discussing performance with specialists without needing to deliver campaigns directly.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align client goals with agency capabilities to deliver measurable results. As well as proactively identifying opportunities that deliver client goals.
- Organisational Skills: Strong multitasking and time-management abilities with a sharp eye for detail.
- Sales Orientation: Experience with sales and identifying opportunities for revenue growth is desirable but not essential.
- Communication Expertise: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Proactive Mindset: A solution-focused approach with the ability to handle challenges with confidence.
- Marketing Strategy: A strategic, data-driven marketing mindset with the ability to interpret campaign performance and recommend actionable improvements.
