Location: Newport Shropshire The Opportunity We are seeking a practical and motivated Farm Engineer to join a busy engineering and maintenance team supporting a modern agricultural operation.
This is a hands-on role offering a varied workload across the maintenance, repair, development and improvement of agricultural machinery and equipment.
The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently, helping to minimise downtime and support day-to-day operations.
This position would suit someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys problem-solving and working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment.
Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines.
Inspect, remove and replace machinery components as required.
Assist with the design, development and improvement of new and existing machinery.
Manufacture and machine components within a workshop environment.
Test and evaluate mechanical, pneumatic and low-voltage electrical systems.
Record and report findings from inspections, testing and repairs.
Prioritise workloads effectively to ensure operational requirements are met.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop and working areas.
Support operational teams with on-site maintenance and breakdown response where required.
Work in accordance with all health and safety, hygiene and company procedures.
About You The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience in an engineering, agricultural engineering, mechanical maintenance or similar role.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair faults.
Experience working with agricultural, plant, industrial or production equipment.
The ability to read and follow technical information and manufacturer guidelines.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
A proactive and safety-conscious approach to work.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
