UHCG FZE on behalf of UnitedHealthcare Global Medical are currently inviting applications to join an innovative occupational health team during a time of evolution and growth. The clinic provides a high standard of occupational health services to a number of clients in the energy sector around Aberdeen.

UnitedHealthcare Global are looking for an occupational health nurse on a fixed term 12-month contract from April/May 2023; this role has the possibility of becoming permanent. The role requires the nurse to work either 4/5 days per week; working Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:30.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Plan and implement a range of OH screening as per company standards and protocols. This will include venepuncture, vaccination, substance abuse screening, dispensing medicines, and general health advice for the various categories of staff and associated screens.
  • Participate in the process of sickness absence review by undertaking consultations with employees and providing recommendations on fitness to work with adjustments under the direction of the Occupational Health Physician (OHP) and participate in training and development opportunities in relation to this.
  • Deliver lifestyle and work‑related Health Promotion campaigns as regards presentations to staff, online postings, preparation and dispatch of resource. Expected to participate in clinical governance, SEQOHS, clinic meetings and be able to work flexibly dependent upon business need.
  • Coordinate, manage and execute health surveillance programs, delivering them according to company process and to pre agreed timescales.
  • Carry out nurse led medicals to include medicals with EBS assessment.
  • Administer health coding and provide health reports for the business. Maintain stocks of medical consumables used in health screening and immunisation.
  • Plan and organise workload; and accept and arrange bookings from clients for the services taking place in the clinic and other UK locations.
  • Maintain records of all consultations and input records and other health data into the medical records database.
  • Support and deliver any other ad hoc work or initiatives as may be required in other areas of OH such as research projects – this requires planning, prioritising and integration within job remit.
  • The position requires a high level of self‑sufficiency and take the lead in relation to the administrative components of the stated tasks; and the incumbent is expected to attend and contribute to regular OH team meetings.
  • All OH staff have a duty of care to their clients and colleagues and should always be aware of possible impact of health on work and work on health. Related to this is always the requirement to act in accordance with the COMPANY Statement of Policy on Health, Safety and the Environment, their own registered body obligations and completion of company mandatory training on time.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate handovers between clinical staff, ensuring standard operating procedures for clinical activities are followed and medical records are kept up to date.
  • Innovate and improve efficiencies within clinic scope of work as a deliverable and work with the OHP and clinic manager to identify where the nurse can better support the OHP.
  • Undertake improvement activities targeted at improving worker health and identifying and preventing work related health problems.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Current registration with the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council)
  • Post registration and Occupational Health working experience advantageous
  • Computer literate and familiarity with common Microsoft packages
  • Should be self‑motivated with an interest in occupational health
