Here at Optum, we have a brilliant opportunity for an User Researcher to join our highly capable and talented Health Analytics Product Experience & Design team on a permanent basis.
You will take a proactive approach reimagining our core products and innovating in order to create new solutions that significantly improve patient outcomes.

This User Researcher role is predominantly home working, however there is a requirement to visit customer/user sites on an ad hoc basis and attend ad hoc team meetings and workshops in our collaboration hubs.

What you’ll do:

As a User Researcher, we will be looking for you to form part of a cross-functional team to align user research activities across multiple projects. Taking a consultative approach, you will utilise a variety of research methodologies from discovery to usability testing to pilot feedback, you will guide stakeholders and our product team in the right approach to address our customers questions.

We’re looking for collaborators who will promote and create a culture of user centred and evidence-based approach to product and service design. As User Researcher, we would look to you to conduct effective contextual inquiry to understand how our customers utilise our software and provide recommendations to the roadmap based on this discovery.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Work closely with Product Designers and Product Managers to help embed rapid research & findings into agile teams and process
  • Align user research sessions and activities with product objectives and priorities
  • Actively engage stakeholders in user research activities

Who You’ll Be:

We need you to be a User Researcher with a passion for designing and conducting a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies across various stages of the product development cycle. You will have extensive experience working in an in-house environment to support the commitment to delivering user-centred products at Optum.

Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of working with internal stakeholders to deliver research activities. Working in a fast-paced role you will have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.

Other useful skills and experience include:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including thematic analysis
  • Good presentation creation skills and delivery
