UnitedHealthcare Global is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our Aberdeen clinic team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the health, wellbeing and operational readiness of employees working across the energy, offshore, maritime, renewables and industrial sectors. In this role, you will deliver a broad range of occupational health services, including fitness-to-work assessments, health surveillance, case management, medical screening and health promotion initiatives. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team while also using your autonomy and clinical judgement to provide high-quality, evidence-based care. You will help ensure our occupational health services meet regulatory, client and industry standards while making a meaningful impact on safety-critical workforces operating in challenging environments.

What you'll do:

  • Carry out occupational health assessments, including new starter, fitness-for-work, return-to-work, safety-critical medical and management referral assessments.
  • Deliver health surveillance programmes, including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, HAVS, respiratory, skin and night worker assessments.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, vaccinations, drug and alcohol testing, point-of-care testing, ECGs and general health screening.
  • Support offshore and energy-sector medical fitness programmes in accordance with client and industry requirements.
  • Manage occupational health referrals from managers and HR teams.
  • Provide evidence-based advice regarding fitness for work, rehabilitation and workplace adjustments.
  • Support the effective management of sickness absence and return-to-work programmes.
  • Escalate complex cases to Occupational Health Physicians and other healthcare professionals when required.
  • Plan and deliver health promotion campaigns and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support workforce health programmes focusing on mental wellbeing, musculoskeletal health, cardiovascular risk reduction, lifestyle management, fatigue awareness, and offshore workforce health optimisation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential occupational health records.
  • Ensure compliance with the NMC Code, Data Protection legislation (GDPR), clinical governance requirements, company policies and procedures, and client contractual requirements.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives and service development projects.
  • Contribute to incident reporting, investigation and lessons learned activities.
  • Manage clinic appointment schedules and occupational health workflows.
  • Maintain stock levels of medical consumables and equipment.
  • Ensure equipment calibration and servicing requirements are met.
  • Support mobilization requirements for offshore personnel where required.
  • Participate in business continuity and clinical resilience arrangements.

What You'll Bring:

  • Current Registered General Nurse (RGN) registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Proven experience working within occupational health.
  • Proven experience providing occupational health services within a clinic, industrial, offshore, construction, manufacturing, or energy-sector environment.
  • Proven experience undertaking fitness-for-work assessments.
  • Proven experience managing occupational health referrals and sickness absence cases.
  • Proven experience using electronic clinical record systems.
  • Proven experience working autonomously while maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in delivering health surveillance programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and vaccination administration.
  • Full UK driving license.

Other useful skills and experience include:

  • Recognized occupational health qualification, such as a degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Proven experience supporting offshore energy sector personnel.
  • Proven experience applying OEUK medical standards and offshore workforce health requirements.
  • Proven experience delivering substance misuse testing programs.
  • Proven experience supporting SEQOHS-accredited services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health surveillance requirements under UK health and safety legislation.
  • Travel health qualification with demonstrated proficiency in vaccination delivery.
