UHG Enterprise Security and Resilience Office (ESRO) seeks a technically adept engineer who will focus on corporate wide initiatives to gauge, monitor and improve the security posture of APIs across the company. The role involves working with API owners evaluate and improve and remediate issues with their APIs that are not aligned with corporate standards and security best practices and providing operational support for tooling used to identify vulnerable APIs.
Primary Responsibilities:

Provide operational support to security tooling that monitors APIs

Collaborate with application owners and cross-functional teams to drive timely remediation of security issues

Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on secure coding practices and threat mitigation

Build and maintain strong partnerships with engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to embed security into the development lifecycle

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering/relevant subject OR equivalent experience
- Industry API engineering experience
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Golang
- Experience designing APIs and managing API lifecycle
- Familiarity with current API security best practices
- Technical foundation with a demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply knowledge across all areas of security (application, network, and systems)
- Proficiency with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity experience
