As a Volunteer at the Integrated Care Hub (ICH), you will make a difference for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or hardship. Whether you are helping to distribute meals, supporting access to our hygiene facilities, assisting with community clean-up, or organizing donations, your contributions support a dignified, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors to the ICH.
Volunteer roles at the Access and Support Centre and Rest Zone are coordinated by AMHS-KFLA. A variety of roles/tasks are available to support the interest and abilities of our volunteers.

Suitable For: Adults (18+)
This Position has an accompanying Application Form. Volunteers typically commit to 2- to 4-hour shifts, one or more times per week, depending on availability and ICH needs. Volunteer roles are available during both day and evening hours to suit your schedule.
Required Qualifications- Empathy & Respect: Comfort interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliability: Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Communication & Teamwork: Clear, respectful interaction and collaboration.
- Adaptability: Flexible in responding to changing situations or needs.
- Situational Awareness: Ability to identify and report safety, hygiene, or behavioural concerns.
- Physical Readiness: Comfortable standing, walking, lifting, or doing light cleaning for extended periods. Training is provided.
- Meal Distribution
- Meal Setup & Preparation: Set up serving stations; assist in reheating, cooking, or assembling meals under staff guidance.
- Meal Service: Serve food in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Visitor Engagement: Offer a warm, welcoming presence to visitors of the ICH.
- Food Quality & Cleanliness: Support food handling and kitchen sanitation.
- Dishwashing & Clean-Up: Clean dishes, utensils, and food preparation areas.
- Inventory & Stocking: Help organize and restock kitchen ingredients and supplies.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with staff and fellow volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
- Safety Reporting: Report any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues.
- Bathroom/Shower Attendant
- Facility Monitoring: Ensure bathrooms and showers remain clean, safe, and accessible.
- Client Support: Provide guidance on hygiene expectations, shower access procedures, and usage limits.
- Restocking Supplies: Refill soap, toilet paper, towels, and hygiene products.
- Light Cleaning: Conduct spot checks and clean between custodial visits as needed.
- Safety Reporting: Report any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues.
- Positive Engagement: Offer kind support and information to clients.
- Documentation: Complete any required documentation/log sheets and report incidents or supply needs.
- Community Clean-Up
- Grounds Maintenance: Help maintain cleanliness around the ICH property, including parking lots, sidewalks, and green spaces.
- Litter Pick-Up: Safely collect and dispose of litter or debris.
- Team Collaboration: Work with staff and clients to foster community pride.
- Health and Safety: Follow safety procedures when handling waste or working outdoors.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues.
- Donations Organization
- Sorting & Categorizing: Organize incoming donations by type (e.g., clothing, hygiene items, non-perishables).
- Storage Management: Keep donation areas tidy and accessible.
- Donation Distribution: Help locate items for clients based on need (e.g., warm clothing, hygiene kits).
- Inventory Support: Track and report on needed or low-stock items.
- Client Interaction: Provide respectful and dignified service when distributing donated items.
- Safety Reporting: Report any safety concerns or incidents, or other relevant issues.
