Ready to take ownership of one of the most critical enablers of safe, reliable project delivery? At United Utilities, we’re strengthening the way we deliver telemetry across our capital programme — and we need a leader who can bring clarity, discipline and technical authority to a process that underpins every successful commissioning event. This is your opportunity to step into a pivotal role where your expertise will eliminate late‑stage failures, reduce operational risk and ensure our assets are ready for safe, timely Operational Takeover.
Your mission as our Telemetry Lead, you’ll be accountable for ensuring telemetry is planned, documented, tested and accepted in a way that enables safe commissioning and seamless Operational Takeover. You’ll act as the central point of coordination between commissioning, design, delivery partners, telemetry/SCADA teams and operations — ensuring issues are surfaced early, risks are controlled and telemetry delivery is right first time. You’ll drive consistency, embed standards, uplift capability and ensure telemetry never becomes the reason a project is delayed, compromised or unsafe.

- Managing telemetry coordinators’ workload across the full delivery lifecycle, escalating constraints to the Technical Deliverables Manager.
- Technical Leadership
- Acting as the SME for telemetry delivery across capital projects.
- Maintaining deep understanding of the telemetry delivery process, milestones and responsibilities as defined in the PDL.
- Owning project reporting tools to highlight risks, opportunities and constraints in telemetry delivery.
- Embedding quality, consistency and timely delivery of all telemetry‑related outputs ahead of Operational Takeover.
- Working with the standardisation team to develop standard telemetry deliverables for the UU catalogue.
- Training and upskilling delivery teams and partners in telemetry processes and expectations.
- Applying strong understanding of ARDR, asset lifecycle management and the impact of telemetry on asset registration and project milestones.
- Leading planning and scheduling activities, including lookahead profiles and coordination with project teams and suppliers.

- Practical experience of commissioning and operational handover.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and assure multi‑discipline technical scope.
- Ability to translate operational needs into clear technical requirements.
- Confident challenging assumptions and pushing issues upstream.
- Strong written and verbal communication — clear, firm and credible.
- Track record of delivering high‑quality work within busy, fast‑paced teams.
