Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with retailers on behalf of non-household customers using the JIRA case management system to manage trade effluent queries, applications, and sample notifications in line with agreed service levels.
- Carry out sampling and meter readings in line with planned schedules, applying Trade Effluent Policy procedures to ensure effective control through robust consent conditions.
- Monitor discharge data and conduct on-site testing to ensure compliance with consent standards and regulatory requirements.
- Gather and present evidence to support enforcement action where non-compliance has impacted or could impact United Utilities, its assets, or the environment.
- Provide out of hours support to manage incidents relating to trade effluent discharges and ensure timely resolution.
Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of trade effluent regulations and environmental legislation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience using systems such as JIRA, TEMS, WALTO, OMS, and Access.
- Experience working within a health and safety focused environment, including the use of specialist equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both internal teams and customers.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset, managing your time efficiently and prioritising a mix of planned and reactive tasks.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own portfolio of customers.
- Willingness to participate in the Trade Effluent standby rota.
Essential Qualifications
- HNC or BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Full and valid driving licence.
