We have a great opportunity for a Health and Safety Business Partner to join us. You will lead and deliver H&S subject matter expertise to support and challenge delivery of best in class H&S performance in a portfolio of Capital Projects.
Work with the Portfolio Capital Project leadership to support the delivery and embedment of the H&S improvement plans and the embedment of processes and procedures to ensure everybody working on our behalf get home safe and well and projects are delivered on time, on budget and safely.
Identify and escalate critical H&S issues to Portfolio Capital Project Teams so they can ensure the right level of support and intervention is allocated at the right levels to help resolve the issue.
Work with the Projects H&S Manager to develop H&S plans that deliver Capital Project Improvements in line with the wider UU H&S strategy.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities- Regular participation in Project Portfolio Leadership team meetings and field visits to support project leadership in the delivery of H&S policies, procedures, standards and improvement plans.
- Build an effective working relationship with project teams and contractor partners so that project dilemmas and implementation challenges are communicated to the Project Portfolio Managers and Project H&S Manager.
- Provide advice as required on UU health and safety requirements.
- Completion of H&S incident investigations through to root cause and close out.
- Engagement with Project field teams and Project and contractor partner leadership teams to ensure learning from significant H&S incidents are shared including the delivery of engaging H&S messages at roadshows and team briefs.
- Coach and mentor H&S advisors in effective support and challenge.
- Provide support as required on the development and improvement of the H&S management systems and into UU wide improvement programmes.
- Proven track record of delivering sustained health, safety and wellbeing improvement in Capital Projects and Engineering.
- Experience of influencing, coaching and negotiation skills with key stakeholders.
- Excellent investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- A good understanding of H&S behavioural theory and practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of effective communication with key stakeholders.
- Experience of communicating and presenting to senior management, both internally and externally.
- Experience of managing own professional development and coaching/mentoring others.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety.
