Job Purpose

We have a great opportunity for a Health and Safety Business Partner to join us as we enter into an exciting period of investment and innovation known as AMP 8 in the water sector. You will lead and deliver H&S subject matter expertise to support and challenge delivery of best in class H&S performance in a portfolio of Capital Projects.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside our leadership team supporting the delivery and embedment of H&S improvement plans and processes and procedures to ensure everybody working on our behalf gets home safe and well. This is a site-facing role working with our contractor partners to ensure high standards at site level, working with construction managers and supply chain partners to drive our home safe and well strategy.

This is a varied role based between our head office in Warrington, at home, and visiting our sites across the North West with regulatory compliance and safety at the forefront. You may be identifying issues, running investigations or supporting the design of capital delivery plans and projects.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Participate regularly in Project Portfolio Leadership team meetings and conduct field visits to support project leadership in implementing H&S policies, procedures, standards, and improvement plans.
  • Build effective working relationships with project teams and contractor partners to communicate project dilemmas and implementation challenges to the Project Portfolio Managers and Project H&S Manager.
  • Provide advice on UU health and safety requirements as needed.
  • Complete H&S incident investigations through to root cause analysis and close out.
  • Engage with project field teams and leadership to ensure learning from significant H&S incidents is shared, including delivering engaging H&S messages at roadshows and team briefs.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record of delivering sustained health, safety, and wellbeing improvements in Capital Projects and Engineering.
  • Experience in influencing, coaching, and negotiation with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • A good understanding of H&S behavioural theory and practice.
  • Experience communicating and presenting to senior management, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety.
