The role involves supporting United Utilities (UU) Water Network to deliver against its regulatory targets and customer promises for leakage control. Responsibilities include:
- Accountable for proactive and reactive leakage detection activities within District Meter Areas (DMAs) and Upstream within District Meter Zones (DMZs).
- Deployment and assessment of appropriate leakage detection methodologies.
- Working closely with the Network Maintenance Alliance (NMA) to ensure timely and efficient repair and resolution of leakage issues.
- Raising the correct repairs through to the NMA and supporting them through the repair process.
Key accountabilities include:
- Undertaking proactive leakage using appropriate detection methods (correlating, sounding, step testing, data loggers).
- Managing leaks upstream of the customer boundary and serving defective fitting (DF) notices.
- Identifying and detecting leaks on the Network and on customer premises.
- Undertaking reactive leakage detection for customer reported P2 leaks.
- Liaising with Repair and Maintenance teams to ensure repairs are completed.
- Providing leakage assistance to Water Network Technicians for third party damage.
- Interpreting flow and pressure data for further leakage detection activity.
- Raising and managing work for leak repairs.
- Assessing appropriate network leakage activities and undertaking planned work risk assessments.
- Providing support to other network colleagues during incidents and events.
- Using turbidity monitors to monitor water quality as part of leakage activities.
- Carrying out red-lining activities.
- Ensuring PPE and vehicles comply with UU Health and Safety policies.
Skills and experience required:
- Knowledge and experience in the operation of water networks and leakage detection techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a high performance team with a proven record of achieving goals.
- GCSE grade C or above, City and Guilds, or ability to demonstrate technical and customer skills.
- Demonstrable water network technical experience, including leakage detection and repair.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong customer service focus and ability to resolve customer issues.
This role requires a full driving licence.
