The role
Our successful M&C Operations Manager will help to provide early diagnosis and enhanced technical decision making and an overview of the water system on a 24/7 basis within the ICC. You will also provide management of short cycle activities such as alarm and event response and deliver against the operational plan as well as leading and inspiring a combined team of technical experts, remote monitoring controllers and scheduling analysts.
Key accountabilities
- To provide early diagnosis and enhanced technical decision making on alarms/events/incidents generated from the water systems.
- To manage short cycle activities and deliver against the operational plan.
- To make key short term operational decisions on a 24/7 basis and identify when issues have to be escalated up through the business.
- To manage incidents and events (typically type 1 functional but will be expected to support ICCRM with type 2/3 incidents)
- To ensure sufficient team resource is in place to manage normal workloads and also the ability to respond to events that could a significant impact on the water and wastewater systems and subsequent increase in workload demand.
- To work closely with the area production teams and be responsible for providing reports/information to meet business needs.
- Monitoring and Control team and wider teams within the ICC
- Responsible for direct line management of a shift team comprising of technical experts , remote monitoring and control operators and scheduling analysts on a 24/7 basis.
- To work closely with other teams in Operational Planning, Monitoring and Control to help develop, enhance and implement System Thinking and Situational Awareness capabilities in line with the company business plan.
- Accountable for maintaining and driving improvements in compliance, efficiency and Health, Safety and Wellbeing
- To act as a leader and advocate to deliver change required as part of the company business plan.
- To balance financial, customer service, regulatory compliance and people priorities in order to deliver the business plan.
Skills & experience
- Overall knowledge of the water industry
- Operational experience on water production line environments and an understanding of operational and maintenance strategies and the ability to react to keep the system operating.
- Managerial and leadership skills to deliver performance through a team of people responsible for short cycle activities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- A good level understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding the water or wastewater business.
- Analytical skills and the ability to drive solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems, whilst also knowing when to stop and ask for help from support colleagues.

This role involves working shifts on a 4 on 4 off basis, followed by 2 on 2 off.
Hours: 6.30am-6.30pm.
