Job Purpose
- Leads the Integration and Takeover capability at a regional level for UU.
- Owns the Integration and Takeover strategy and policy at a regional level for UU.
- Manages the resource profile across the regional programme.
- Reports performance against strategy and KPI at programme level
- Is the subject matter expert (SME) for Integration and Takeover
- Owns the Integration risks and constraints across the regional programme.
- Stakeholder liaison at programme level
- Ensure co‑ordination and co‑operation of employees and contractors with other UU departments and external bodies for work execution, auditing and reporting.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Ensure all integration/takeover activities and technical outputs are undertaken in accordance with H&S legislation and UU best practice.
- Provide expert lessons learned into the wider UU business.
- Leads the standardisation strategy for Integration and Takeover across design, implementation and delivery.
- Provides technical mentoring and supervision of junior members of the Integration team.
- Manages all accountabilities within approved budget.
- Engages with consultants and specialists including procurement of the same.
- Positively supports the transition of new ways of working across the community.
- As required, deputises for the Chief Integration engineer.
- Develops and maintains proactive, empathetic, enduring relationships and creates a healthy, inclusive and diverse environment for their team to flourish.
- Risk management to drive the delivery of opportunities or threat reduction, including adequate escalation of issues outside of their control.
- Works collaboratively with the Project Manager under the Contract to jointly deliver project outcomes.
- Works as part of a project team consisting of internal and external members to ensure delivery of agreed integration outcomes.
Provide Integration support to projects to ensure they can be designed and delivered in a safe manner whilst maximising efficiencies and achieving business objectives.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Ability to operate at strategic and programme level to deliver the business objectives and outcomes.
- Significant leadership and people management skills and an ability to build and develop high‑performing teams from across UU, external organisations and coach/mentor as appropriate.
- Proven leadership experience of complex projects in an integration management role, including the ability to integrate input from different technical areas and other departments.
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or with well‑rounded industry experience.
- Chartered Project Professional or tangible plan to achieve within an agreed period.
- Working knowledge and experience of Integration and Takeover processes & philosophies.
- Ability to influence and direct the approach regarding Commissioning, Integration and Takeover across UU.
- Delivery and experience of Effective Takeover of Assets (EToA).
- Significant experience in commissioning of capital investment projects through complete life cycle.
- Demonstrates strong personal and professional management attributes such as coaching, interpersonal communication, empowerment and motivation consistent with UU leadership behaviors.
- Experience in leading successful multi‑disciplinary resources in a highly technical and commercial environment.
- Technical credibility and experience in operational and project/programme environments.
- Confidence, conviction and gravitas to influence decisions and enforce best‑practices, through advice, counsel or facilitating services to others; sufficient ‘strength of character’ to ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are not compromised for the sake of production.
- Knowledge of asset management principles and techniques (e.g. RCM, FMECA, RCFA, CBM, etc.).
- Ability to prioritise tasks and finite resources to deliver business targets/objectives.
- Experience with company standards and procedures.
- In‑depth knowledge of processes used in Water and Wastewater Treatment/Networks.
- Proven experience of health, safety and well‑being requirements relating to delivery of projects (e.g. CDM Principal Designer or Client roles).
- Ability to think more strategically about how problems are solved; working collaboratively across multiple directorates at UU.
