United Utilities is accountable for water and wastewater services in the North West of England. From 2025‑2030 we will undertake the largest investment in water and wastewater services in the North West in 100 years – that’s more than £13 billion worth of projects. Our apprentices are well looked after, with a generous salary, 26 days of leave (excluding bank holidays), a £500 contribution towards learning to drive, and many more benefits. You’ll have a dedicated mentor and manager to support you every step of the way. All we ask is that you’re willing to learn, work well as part of a team, and manage your time and workload effectively.
As an Apprentice Statutory Coordinator, you’ll learn how to:
- Assist the Statutory Team Leader in ensuring all third parties engaged in activity in completion of the work adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safe systems of work.
- Assist the Statutory Team Leader in ensuring all procedures and processes associated with the delivery of this work are documented, communicated and adhered to across the company.
- Work with Commercial to ensure that all third party contractor arrangements are robust and meet the technical requirements of the activities.
- Work with Engineering and Health and Safety Teams to ensure United Utilities is compliant with new legislation when implemented.
- Liaise with Capital Delivery Teams to ensure a robust process for handover of assets in compliance with the statutory inspection and maintenance requirements for the agreed asset and equipment types.
- Work with other areas of the business to ensure a delivery plan is in place to cover statutory compliance.
- Ensure that job plans and access arrangements are in place to minimise aborted third party contractor visits.
Your apprenticeship will last 24 months, and successful apprentices will achieve a Level 4 Associate Project Manager standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships. You will need to be mobile in this role; we’ll contribute up to £500 towards driving lessons and tests to help you get you on the road.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic to work with teams across multiple areas across the Company to ensure processes are in place and implemented to maintain assets in accordance with legislative requirements. Due to the number and variety of assets maintained, planning and organisation of activities is essential to ensure maintenance is undertaken to time, cost and quality. The team has a strong belief in continuous improvement, this is achieved by working together as a team to ensure data is correctly captured, analysed and information used to directly improve processes or influence decision making. A background or active interest in Science, Engineering or Health and Safety would be beneficial.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent, grades A‑C or grades 9‑4, which must include Maths, English and a Science or Technology subject.
- Plus a Level 3 qualification (A‑levels, apprenticeship or BTEC etc with 48 UCAS points).
- High level of IT skills and be able to create and manage MS Office applications and documents.
- A strong ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication.
