Job Purpose
This is a key role reporting to the Network Performance Manager within the water network. The role allows Water Networks to deliver against its strategic targets by the delivery against the Distribution Operations Maintenance Strategy (DOMS), Leakage Customer and Efficiency targets within the regulatory framework. This role is pivotal in helping United Utilities Water Network achieve its vision. You will ensure that high quality information is produced that enables effective and efficient management of our water resources by identifying areas for leakage detection through analysis of flow, pressure and consumption data playing a critical part in allowing UU to achieve its company leakage target.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of flow and pressure data to ensure effective and efficient management of our Pressure management valves.
- Ensure all reported information is reliable, accurate, and complete; collect, process, and analyse data from Operations, Asset Management, and Delivery teams.
- Act as a local expert user for Netbase and INS; respond appropriately to pressure changes to support timely reactive maintenance.
- Produce DMA and upstream leakage reports for Network Operations; review consumption data to ensure accuracy and support effective resource use.
- Liaise with the Supply and Demand team to maintain accurate data in corporate leakage systems; schedule work for detection teams and maintain asset data on corporate systems.
- Ensure all activities comply with Health and Safety legislation, including dynamic risk assessments; take responsibility for your own professional development.
Technical Skills & Experience
You will have an understanding of water network connectivity, pressure control and leakage detection methods as well as understanding the impact Leakage has on UU's vision to be a world class operator of utility infrastructure. You will also:
- Demonstrate confidence and initiative in managing your own workload, meeting strict deadlines, and engaging effectively with the wider team.
- Work collaboratively within a high-performing team, with a proven track record of achieving goals, objectives, and scorecard measures.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across various teams and stakeholders.
- Have working experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel, and demonstrate competency in using Netbase, Watercore (or similar trending software), Onemap, IWM, and SAP.
- Bring significant operational experience within the water industry, with a sound working knowledge of key systems and processes.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role you will need to be educated to a good standard – minimum ONC or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate good technical understanding.
About the Team
Joining the leakage team, you will be part of a highly motivated performance driven team. You will receive training and support from the team to develop the required analytical skills. You will work collaboratively to drive down leakage with both the immediate Leakage Performance team and the wider Leakage detection team including the Team leader and Leakage Optimisation manager. As part of the Larger Network performance team the leakage Analyst will support and work with the Network performance Engineers in identifying potential improvements and solutions to network issues.
