The role involves leading the successful delivery of a comprehensive programme of works executed by UU’s Capital Delivery Organisation. You will be responsible for complex programmes and projects aimed at upgrading infrastructure, cutting carbon, and improving services across the North West.
This position is within the Wastewater delivery programme, focusing on exciting wastewater projects that support our operations colleagues. The role can be based from either the Kendal Office or Lingley Mere, with occasional travel to site as required.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead project teams, ensuring quality and timeliness of delivery, and alignment with organisational vision, sustainability targets, and eco-friendly reputation.
- Navigate dynamic situations and influence strategies within the capital programme.
- Collaborate with industry experts to address unique challenges and drive success.
- Build strong working relationships and manage key internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Provide expert advice to contractors and regulators, including Ofwat, Drinking Water Inspectorate, Environment Agency, and various NGOs.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver investment programmes of approximately £10m - £100m.
- Mentor a team of project & design professionals ensuring delivery to TCQi with end-to-end accountability.
- Ensure projects are designed and delivered safely while maximising efficiencies and achieving business objectives.
- Develop and maintain a safety culture to deliver excellent Health and Safety performance.
- Manage all risks and changes effectively, elevating or mitigating issues affecting programme/project delivery.
- Develop and maintain resource plans alongside functional leaders to ensure appropriate resources are in place.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate governance.
- Manage the relationship with the Supply Chain to successfully deliver projects.
- Establish and lead a direct project team and secure contributions from other stakeholders across the business.
- Report progress against the overall programme to senior management.
- Work with internal senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with programme requirements.
- Collaborate with key internal teams to ensure appropriate interaction and identified outcomes.
- Provide regular updates to the appropriate governance group.
- Ensure statutory approvals are obtained and maintained.
- Act as the ‘client’ representative under the CDM regulations.
- Produce and manage a project management plan for each project.
Essential criteria:
- A demonstrable track record of successfully leading multi-discipline teams to deliver major infrastructure capital projects (£50m+).
- Experience in a client-facing collaborative environment.
- Any of the following: CEng MICE, CIWEM, MSP/PRINCE2, MAPM ChPP, relevant qualification or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
