The role involves leading the successful delivery of a comprehensive programme of works executed by UU’s Capital Delivery Organisation, which encompasses areas such as Better Rivers, Wastewater, Water, and Enterprise. You will be responsible for some of our biggest and most complex projects, helping to upgrade infrastructure, cut carbon, and improve services for people across the North West.

This role will support the Enterprise delivery programme in the Cumbria & Windermere area, working on high-profile wastewater projects. The position can be based from the Kendal Office or remotely managed from other main offices with occasional travel to site as required.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with organisational vision, sustainability targets, and eco-friendly reputation.
  • Navigate dynamic situations and influence strategies within our capital programme.
  • Collaborate with industry experts to address unique challenges and drive success.
  • Build strong working relationships and manage key internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Provide expert advice to contractors and regulators, including Ofwat, Drinking Water Inspectorate, Environment Agency, and various NGOs.
  • Establish, lead, and manage high-performing multi-disciplinary teams across multiple partner organisations.
  • Promote innovative thinking to solve problems and develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Fulfil the role of Client’s Representative under CDM.
  • Manage NEC4 ECC contracts with design and construction partners.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure understanding and agreement with programme objectives.
  • Achieve budget goals for all current and future accounting periods.
  • Oversee building the Performance Measurement Baseline for projects/portfolio.
  • Integrate schedule with scope, cost, and quality baselines to create a comprehensive plan.

To be successful with your application:

  • A demonstrable track record of successfully leading multi-discipline teams to deliver major infrastructure capital projects (£50m+).
  • Experience in a client-facing collaborative environment.
  • Any of the following qualifications: CEng MICE, CIWEM, MSP/PRINCE2, MAPM ChPP, or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
