Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced IT Security Manager to lead and deliver our comprehensive security functions across our IT estate. This key role involves identifying network vulnerabilities, implementing and overseeing our Security Operations Centre (SOC), and driving continuous improvements to protect our technology environment. You will play a critical role in reducing cyber risks and enhancing the overall security resilience across the organisation.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- To improve performance and security of the IT Technology estate through a process of pro-active continuous service improvement and to plan and manage the reduction of cyber and security risk to services to United Utilities.
- To deliver the security operations management of the IT Technology estate and its availability 24/7/365 where applicable.
- Contribute expert security advice, insights and suggestions to support other leaders in Technology Services to make informed decisions.
- Spot security trends and assess the risk and opportunities for the business unit, prioritising activity to ensure that risks are minimised and additional value is added whenever possible. Seeking out best practice and innovative ideas/approaches, both internally and externally, and manage their implementation in the given business area
- Oversee the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and manage threat detection, monitoring, and response
Technical Skills & Experience
- Considerable experience of operating Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) and Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) processes and standards.
- Extensive working knowledge of available technologies and defining appropriate strategies to create efficient and effective solutions and services
- Able to develop and manage high-level problem resolution and service improvement plans and act as a technical interface working with executive level leaders on strategy and feasibility studies
- Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal qualities with experience of influencing at different management levels both within and external to Technology Service
- Experience of managing technical resource working to quality and time based criteria. Must be able to lead and manage technical delivery teams and lead technical discussions in relation to optimum delivery of complex systems.

- Degree level educated or with significant experience gained through similar role.
