Job Purpose
You will be responsible for Instrumentation maintenance and technical support to the Water Production team to repair and maintain Water assets.
You will be working in a fast paced modern maintenance environment, providing proactive, planned and reactive support in all aspects of your field of expertise, whilst ensuring compliance with company, statutory and regulatory requirements and minimising environmental impact. You\’ll also have the opportunity to provide input into capital and operational projects to ensure assets fully meet operational and maintenance requirements.
As the role can require lone working you will need to be comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
Please note, this role will also include working in confined space and will include participation in an out of hour\’s standby rota.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Implement an efficient Instrumentation maintenance and installation service.
- Analyse faults, rectify and ensure correct Instrumentation and systems-based equipment.
- Perform planned and proactive maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and internal company policies
- Maintain required financial control of a pre-defined budgets.
- Provide reliable, accurate and complete asset performance and repair information for entry into corporate systems.
- Analyse and recommend solutions to recurring maintenance problems.
Technical Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role you must have:
- The ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated, with strong problem solving skills and possess the required technical competence
- Able and willing to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to chlorine gas systems and high voltage installations
- Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills
- Industry Experience

Qualifications
- To be successful in this role you must be a time served apprentice or have equivalent working experience.
- HNC or ONC in Instrumentation.
- Ability to maintain the necessary skills, competence, and up-to-date knowledge in all relevant areas throughout your career.
- Where appropriate, possess a sound working knowledge of Simocode, Profibus and similar industrial technology systems.
- Experience of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems and associated networks to perform fault diagnostics, assist with disaster recovery and small system modifications
Additional Information
We are currently seeking a skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join our team, with a clear and supported pathway to develop electrical engineering capabilities. This role is offered initially as a single-skilled position, with the opportunity to upskill into a flexi-skilled role through our in-house technical training programme. Upon successful completion of training and competency sign-off in the secondary discipline, the role will transition to a flexi-skilled position. The starting salary for this role is £38,462, with progression to £44,320 once fully trained and signed off in the secondary skill. This is an excellent opportunity for career development within a supportive and forward-thinking engineering environment.
