Overview

In this role, you will plan and coordinate maintenance activities across UU sites to improve asset reliability and move from reactive to proactive maintenance. You’ll work with maintenance and operations teams to create accurate job plans, including labour, materials, tools, and safety requirements. You will prioritise safety, identify hazards, and schedule downtime to minimise disruption. This is a hands-on planning role at a major water utility, focused on continuous improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities across multiple sites within a defined area
  • Develop maintenance job plans with detailed labour, material, tools, and safety requirements ready for scheduling
  • Manage spares and build bills of materials for critical assets
  • Review corrective work for priority and readiness for planning
  • Proactively plan asset downtime to minimise disruption and maintain treatment continuity
  • Create, update and improve the library of maintenance job plans with operations and engineering teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning and scheduling and contribute to short- and long-term planning meetings
  • Coordinate asset availability or shutdowns for proactive maintenance and report missed opportunities for process improvement

Key requirements

  • Qualified to HNC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation engineering
  • Significant hands-on maintenance experience in water or similar industry
  • Strong ability to estimate labour, materials, and skill requirements
  • Solid knowledge of plant operations, equipment, and Health & Safety processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; understands SAP and MARS workflows
  • Experience in root cause analysis and efficient planning to maximise asset availability
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Full UK driving licence
