Job Purpose

To support the Company in fulfilling its regulations, policies, procedures (Environmental Management Systems) and external accreditations (ISO14001) for a limited number of sites across the asset base as part of a team of Environmental Regulatory Advisors (ERAs).

To deliver specialist waste, permitting and environmental advice to improve and maintain environmental regulatory compliance, reduce carbon emissions through minimisation, re-use and recycling of waste and increase business efficiencies, for example by optimising energy through waste including CHP.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • To undertake site inspections and audits in accordance with Business needs (including maintaining ISO 14001 Accreditation) and regulatory requirements (including EPR (Waste and Installations), Exemptions, Duty of Care, etc.)
  • Provision of specialist environmental technical expertise to their defined business area.
  • To collate all regulatory site specific data for submission to the Environment Agency within the required timeframes.
  • To maintain a working relationship with their local EA officers.
  • Have an in depth knowledge of site specific waste and installation permits in the role holders defined area and ensure all requirements are being met.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Good knowledge and understanding of wastewater and sludge treatment practices, techniques, policies and operational activities.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and environmental permitting requirements.
  • Familiarity of different UU site permits and ability to interpret their specific requirements
  • Knowledge, experience and skills in conducting inspections & audits. High levels of influencing skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills – able to work to deadlines and achieve objectives

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree / diploma in an appropriate subject
  • Currently hold or able to obtain the CIWM professionally acknowledged WAMITAB NVQ level 4 qualification and maintain continued competence through biennial external examinations.
  • Valid driving licence
