Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in process safety. You’ll help embed strong process safety systems, support operational teams across the North West, and play a key role in preventing loss‑of‑containment events and other major hazards. You’ll be out on site regularly, building relationships, understanding high‑risk activities first‑hand and helping colleagues apply critical controls consistently. You’ll also support investigations, contribute to improvement programmes and help strengthen our process safety culture. In return, we’ll support your development with structured learning, mentoring and progression towards recognised process safety qualifications. A full driving licence is required due to travel across operational sites.

What you’ll be doing

  • Visiting operational sites to support the delivery of process safety standards and improvement plans
  • Providing clear, competent advice on hazard identification, risk assessment and control effectiveness
  • Supporting the identification and assurance of major accident hazards, including loss‑of‑containment and high‑energy systems
  • Taking part in incident and near‑miss investigations, including root cause analysis and action tracking
  • Sharing learning from significant events and delivering engaging safety messages at briefings and workshops
  • Building strong relationships with operational teams and escalating risks or deviations where needed
  • Contributing to the development and continual improvement of process safety management systems

What you’ll bring

  • A solid understanding of process safety principles and major accident hazard prevention
  • Awareness of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques (e.g. HAZID, bowtie, task‑based assessments)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) — and the motivation to work towards process‑safety qualifications
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with colleagues at all levels
  • A proactive approach to personal development and achieving performance goals
