Overview
In this role you will provide scientific and practical technical input to the Wastewater Production team to meet regulatory, financial and customer targets. You will ensure assets are managed efficiently within budget and compliance standards. You will work with hub technical officers, process controllers and operators to maintain regulatory compliance and optimise performance. You will translate performance data into action plans and contribute to district regulatory reporting and asset planning. This is a hands-on, impact-focused position within a FTSE 100 company committed to sustainable, high-quality water services.

Responsibilities
- Analyse and interpret operational performance data and implement corrective actions within Health and Safety requirements
- Develop and report action plans to ensure wastewater activities comply with legislation and company targets
- Collaborate with Hub Technical Officers, Process Controllers and Operators to deliver compliance and performance
- Provide scientific, technical and practical direction for short- and medium-term wastewater asset operation
- Assess workforce scheduling and enhancement options to recommend corrective action
- Identify operational problems and asset needs relating to compliance, efficiency, asset availability and safety
- Explain performance data and review reports with the Production Manager
- Lead site and district action planning for compliance and asset maintenance
- Contribute to district regulatory returns and EA correspondence
- Develop and maintain quality assurance documents aligned with business requirements
- Monitor alarm management system for best practice in asset performance
- Identify and deliver optimisation opportunities with Area Engineering Manager
- Develop risk registers aligned with Wholesale Risk and Asset Planning to prioritise investment or operational actions
Key requirements
- Wide range of treatment technical skills to monitor and control district assets
- Strong IT, numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience of wastewater treatment processes and best operational practice
- Technical knowledge of wastewater treatment assets and maintenance to achieve lowest whole-life cost
- Practical experience in wastewater treatment operations and maintenance with a track record of performance improvement
