Join to apply for the Project Controller role at United Utilities. Our Project Controller plays a crucial role in overseeing control structures and processes. This includes integrating scheduling, risk management, change control, document management, and cost activities. The goal is to ensure transparent and timely insights into project performance, facilitating swift and informed decision-making, and enabling effective control measures. Additionally, the role involves a continuous dedication to identifying and advocating for process enhancements within the assigned cross-functional team. This commitment aims to enhance overall performance and streamline efficiency for optimal project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the Core Services within PMO by demonstrating the required behaviours to promote the UU vision and its values.
  • Support the delivery of one of the PMO Services functions to recognised standards in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an accurate assessment of the project delivery status and provide reports.
  • Implement defined processes and systems to control the project and ensure an accurate report of progress is maintained.
  • Monitor the integrated baseline master schedule and cost plan through regular consultation with all parties, ensuring the schedule and cost and budget are continuously aligned.
  • Ensure that an accurate assessment of risk and contingency allowance is maintained for the relevant project.
  • Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Support Earned Value (EV) reporting on the project.
  • Implement the system for providing early warning of emerging risks or issues.
  • Prepare formal and ad hoc reports of the project process to be integrated into the monthly Project Report.
  • Implement the document control strategy and system.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of interfaces and dependencies; ensure that responsibilities for the management of interfaces are clearly assigned and understood.
  • Ensure application of the change management process through all tiers of the project.
  • Support the PMO’s continuous improvement agenda through the identification of task-level improvements to enhance performance across the overall Programme.
  • Responsible for complying with appropriate business Process and Work Instruction documentation to ensure data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in Project Controls.
  • Good understanding of techniques for all facets of project controls.
  • Ability to apply IT systems relevant to Project Controls and budget management (Primavera P6, SAP, cost management systems and others).
  • Strong knowledge of integrated project reporting.
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
