Job Purpose

To provide high‑quality administrative and commercial support across the Commercial, Engineering and Capital Delivery (CEC) function at United Utilities. Working as part of a strong, collaborative team of administrators, the role supports the successful delivery of CEC projects. The role is key to ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations through effective document management, purchasing, payment processing and system updates, while supporting project teams to deliver efficiently and compliantly.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the CEC teams, contributing to the successful delivery of projects across the business
  • Create and process Engineering Certificates, Service Entry Sheets and retention payments through SAP Core, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company processes
  • Raise shopping carts for equipment, goods and services, and process goods receipts in SAP in line with procurement requirements
  • Purchase equipment, goods and services using approved methods, including supplier portals and purchase cards
  • Support commercial processes by ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and documentation
  • Maintain and update corporate systems and databases to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date records
  • Manage shared administration mailboxes, responding to queries and directing requests appropriately
  • Provide ad‑hoc administrative support to individual projects and workstreams, adapting to changing priorities
  • Work collaboratively with fellow administrators to share knowledge, support team objectives and contribute to a positive team culture

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an administrative or business support role, ideally within a commercial, engineering or project‑based environment – though not essential
  • Knowledge of SAP, with experience of raising shopping carts, processing payments or managing service entry sheets would be desired
  • Strong IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Confident communicator with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organised, with good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
