We are seeking a skilled professional to support our operational teams by carrying out high-quality repairs on essential assets, including pumps, motors, and gearboxes. You will play a key role in delivering an asset refurbishment service that supports regulatory, health and safety, financial, and operational performance targets. Using precision engineering techniques, you will complete all work to the highest standard, helping to extend asset life and increase the time between failures. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our equipment across the business.
What you'll be doing:
- Dismantle pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment for inspection and repair
- Carry out full electrical testing of windings to assess condition and identify faults
- Diagnose issues and repair or replace worn or damaged components
- Investigate and analyse failures to determine root causes
- Accurately capture and update asset information and records in the maintenance system
- Replace bearings, shafts, seals, and other parts to correct engineering tolerances
- Rewind and rebuild equipment, followed by high-quality assembly and testing
- Support workshop standards by completing reports, managing spares, and providing on-the-job training
What we're looking for:
- Qualified City and Guilds or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 (or equivalent) in a primary Mechanical discipline
- Time served within a repair workshop within mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Thorough knowledge of wastewater pumps as well as able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the operation of powered assets
- Ex-repair certification from AEMT or equivalent body
- Information technology skills including Microsoft Word, Excel. Experience with SAP an advantage
- Interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
- Occasionally working alone capable of using your own initiative and have a flexible approach to highly varied workloads with analytical and problem solving skills
