What You Will Be Doing:

We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Field Service Engineer to join our team at Bolton. You’ll work in a modern, fast-paced maintenance environment, helping to keep critical Water assets operating safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance. The role starts with a core mechanical focus, with clear scope to develop additional skills through structured on-the-job training and support. If you already bring secondary skills, we’ll value and build on them.
- Deliver planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across Water assets.
- Diagnose faults, carry out effective repairs, and return equipment safely to service.
- Maintain and improve asset reliability through proactive maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Accurately record asset performance, defects, and repair data within corporate systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support capital and operational projects.
- Manage maintenance activities within agreed budgets where applicable.
- Work independently when required, while remaining an active and collaborative team member.
- Take part in the on-call standby rota and work in confined spaces when necessary.
What We Are Looking For:
- A full UK driving licence (a fully equipped company vehicle is provided for travel between sites).
- Time served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline.
- Relevant industry experience within mechanical maintenance, engineering, or industrial environments.
- Strong fault-finding, planning, and organisational skills.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assets such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, and rotating machinery.
- A willingness to develop additional skills and support a multiskilled maintenance approach.
