Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Wastewater Risk Manager to lead a prioritised risk management programme for wastewater assets. You will identify cost-effective solutions to minimise service risks, collaborate across teams to embed asset lifecycle management, and ensure strategic goals are met within budgets and timescales. The role involves planning for the 5-year AMP period and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure service delivery from defined wastewater assets and catchments, maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Prioritise asset interventions based on AMP targets and strategic objectives, working closely with Strategy teams.
- Validate and manage risks by collaborating with Risk Analysts, balancing strategic and operational risks across catchments.
- Develop and recommend solutions by assessing intervention options, quantifying risk reduction, and evaluating whole-life costs.
- Prepare and present proposals for best-value interventions to approval forums and create Requirements Statements for project delivery.
- Monitor and review outcomes through Benefits Realisation Plans, post-investment appraisals, and change control processes.
- Collaborate and liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to protect assets and support compliance.
Qualifications:
- Degree in a numerate or technical discipline and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IAM, CIWEM, ICE).
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, negotiation, and influencing skills, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Experience in risk management techniques, strategic planning, and understanding of regulatory frameworks and funding mechanisms.
- Ability to write persuasive recommendations and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Postgraduate qualification and/or Certificate/Diploma in Asset Management (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment and network practices.
- Familiarity with investment appraisal methods and business finance issues.
