UTA seeks a Senior Vice President of Applied Science and Technology. This London-based executive will report to the UTA Chief Technology Officer and will be responsible for defining and executing UTA\'s AI technology and overall technical strategy for the EMEA region. You will foster collaborative, high-performing technology teams, balancing innovation with practical needs. You have an expertise in digital infrastructure and AI, and a track record of collaboration and innovation. You will leverage your passion for technology to spearhead cross-functional partnerships with businesses and technical teams.

What You Will Do
Applied Science and AI Leadership
- AI Strategy: Define and execute UTA’s applied science and AI strategy in partnership with global product and data leaders, with a focus on foundation models, LLMs, and agentic AI.
- Research Leadership: Drive advanced research in applied science, staying at the forefront of emerging methods and translating them into business impact.
- Applied Integration: Guide the application of AI technologies into products and workflows, ensuring practical value and scalability.
- Scientific Rigor: Establish best practices for data quality, experimentation, and reproducibility to support reliable AI outcomes.
- Responsible AI: Champion ethical standards and responsible use of AI across development and deployment.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with UTA’s CTO to develop and implement a strategic plan for technology that aligns with the company\'s goals and objectives, identifying technology projects and initiatives for the EMEA region.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Technology Architecture: Define and oversee the design and implementation of the company\'s technology architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Infrastructure Stability: Ensure the stability and efficiency of the company\'s technical infrastructure, including servers, databases, and networks. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to support the company\'s technological needs in the region.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure rapid recovery from potential disruptions.
- Monitoring Systems: Establish monitoring and reporting systems for infrastructure to proactively identify and address issues.
- Leadership: Lead and inspire technology teams across EMEA, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews in collaboration with functional business executives, providing feedback and development opportunities for team members within the EMEA technology organization.
- Learning Mindset: Promote continuous growth, encouraging curiosity and new approaches to applying technology within the EMEA context.
- Technical Excellence: Support teams in advancing best practices across data, infrastructure, and AI applications, driving reliable delivery at scale.
- Processes and Best Practices: Develop and implement processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality in technology operations within the EMEA region.
- Agile Methodologies: Work closely with Product teams to integrate agile methodologies into technology processes within EMEA.
- Alignment: Ensure alignment between EMEA technology and product management teams to drive successful project outcomes in the region.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations through clear and transparent communications regarding EMEA technology initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and departments, both within EMEA and globally, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Engagement: Collaborate with other leaders and staff, creating an engaging, inclusive, and motivating work environment across EMEA.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the EMEA technology team, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to the region.
- Strategic Insight: Help UTA “see around corners” within the EMEA landscape by staying current with industry trends to help UTA navigate technology advances and apply innovative approaches to technology projects in the region.
- Global Collaboration: Collaborate with other senior leaders globally to ensure cohesive execution of technology initiatives impacting EMEA.
- Effective Communication: Facilitate effective communication and alignment between EMEA technology and other business units.
- PhD in machine learning, computer science, or a related field, with demonstrated contributions to the field.
- 15+ years of applied science and technology leadership, with a strong record of impact, including patents or publications in leading conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICML, NeurIPS).
- 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with experience leading teams across multiple geographic locations within EMEA.
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer-facing digital products and platforms.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment.
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and principles.
- Strong technical acumen across various domains including databases, data management, ETL, user-facing products, search, and machine learning.
- Experience managing other leaders and IT professional staff, creating an engaging, inclusive, and motivating work environment across diverse teams.
- Working knowledge of, and experience with, product management and agile methodologies.
- Expertise in relationship management and an exemplary ability to manage stakeholder expectations through clear and transparent communications, particularly across different time zones and cultures.
- Learning mindset geared toward innovation and creativity for applying technology capabilities in new ways, necessary for both the delivery of effective technology and business solutions within the EMEA context.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and execute tactically, considering the specific nuances of the EMEA market.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and align technology efforts with strategic priorities, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness.
