UTA is seeking an Assistant to support a Comedy Agent and Partner in our London office. You will be responsible for the smooth running of a busy desk that books comedy shows into all corners of the world. Working directly with artists, promoters, colleagues and other industry stakeholders to deliver best in class touring projects for the world’s leading comedy roster.

With a keen eye for detail and a strong foundation in Microsoft Excel, you will manage the schedules, finances and details of some of the world’s most successful comedy tours which on any given day could include: show contracting, procuring ticket sales counts, liaising with client managers and clients, working up pitches or marketing materials, maintaining diaries, producing reports, calculating final settlements - all while laughing with the encouragement of a fantastic team.

We see roster development and client coverage as a team effort and you will be expected to attend shows on evenings and weekends to support clients and share in researching potential clients at shows in person, online or wherever their content can be found. This job has the typical amount of admin-based tasks you would expect with an assistant role but benefits from being in a fast paced, fun and dynamic industry where watching live comedy is part of the gig and a clearly defined path to growth and a career.

This balance can be improved by your clever AI based attempts to reduce the admin side of the equation and develop processes to make everyone’s day easier. The remit is global touring, servicing comedy and live events clients and shows playing all over the world. You would be joining a quickly-growing team in a fast-paced environment, at the forefront of the live comedy industry.

What You’ll Do:

  • Keeping booking system updated at all times
  • Scheduling meetings for agent, keeping on top of booking schedules and diaries
  • Proactively resolving enquiries, or escalating as appropriate
  • Running ticket counts for all tours
  • Contracting shows accurately, quickly and efficiently
  • Keeping account of all money in for shows and chasing deposits/payments proactively
  • Procuring avails from venues & assisting with tour routing
  • Checking and comparing show offers, collating for management
  • Helping client management to understand tour settlements inc. explaining financials / taxes and other costs/deductions
  • Help co-ordinate Edinburgh booking needs and opportunities
  • Coordinating tour on-sales, managing the on-sale timeline, ensuring Artist have correct and working ticket links, ensuring promoters have up-to-date tour assets and rider
  • Keep client info up to date including images, bio, release dates, pitch decks, management and account info
  • Festival and headline show guest lists, helping management/contacts with requests
  • Collecting tour/show support suggestions from agents and presenting to management
  • Requesting and managing invoices from management/accounts team
  • Chasing and checking settlements and payments, approving statements for final settlement with the client
  • Assisting management with immigration needs, such as filing for immigration forms, assigning sponsorship certificates for artists travelling to the UK, and maintaining current passport copies and touring parties
  • Attending shows and meetings as required
  • Maintain an active review of comedy and live event content and sharing insights and tips to identify potential clients.

What You’ll Need:

  • General understanding of current comedy industry and the nature of a talent agency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Very Strong Excel skills
  • Skills or an interest in developing AI solutions to improve work processes for the team
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Discretion at all times, particularly when dealing with sensitive client matters
  • Ability to prioritize a busy workload
  • Ability to develop business relationships
  • Previous experience in a related field is desirable
