The company is reimagining the way we provide our internal users with access to compute, moving from an approach siloed by application to a modern private cloud environment. You will lead the design, build and operation of a greenfield multi-tenant private cloud platform based on OpenStack, delivering scalable and reliable infrastructure services for engineering teams. The platform underpins large-scale engineering workloads and is central to the organisation’s infrastructure strategy. The platform is to be built using modern platform engineering principles, with strong emphasis on automation, APIs, and end user experience. You will take ownership of platform services end-to-end and drive improvements across the system.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate OpenStack services across multiple environments.
- Own and drive IaC (Terraform, Ansible) practices by defining reusable IaC modules and patterns for reliable and repeatable builds.
- Develop platform services, APIs (FastAPI) and automation using Python.
- Drive improvements in reliability, scalability and performance.
- Lead incident response, fixing and root cause analysis.
- Work across compute, networking and storage layers.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve platform usability.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction and standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong hands‑on experience of key OpenStack Projects (Ironic, Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, OVN/OVS and Glance).
- Strong Ansible/Terraform (or equivalent) and infrastructure lifecycle automation experience.
- Strong experience with Linux internals.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C.
- Experience designing distributed systems and APIs.
- Experience operating large secure production multi‑tenant systems at scale.
- Strong full‑stack domain expertise across one of the following network, storage or compute.
- Hands‑on GitOps‑driven and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, ArgoCD, FluxCD, etc).
- Experience of working in a DevOps / SRE environment.
Nice To Have Skills and Experience
- Experience managing hybrid platforms across multiple data centres and clouds.
- Hands‑On experience with Kubernetes and cloud‑native systems.
- Experience with DPU acceleration.
