Security Development and Test Manager
Location: Birmingham – Hybrid Clearance: UK SC clearable Industry Focus: Telecommunications (CNI) Scope: Hybrid Multi-Cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI) & On-premises Data Centres
As the Security Development and Test Manager, you will be responsible for managing the implementation of secure software development practices and leading the security testing lifecycle across development projects.
You will collaborate closely with technical teams to integrate security into Dev Ops processes, drive vulnerability testing, and ensure customer environments meet defined security standards.
The role ensures the effectiveness of security practices in software development, manages security testing, drives operational maturity improvements, and oversees secure coding practices.
Reporting to the Director of Security Development and Testing, you will be a key contributor in enabling secure software delivery.
- Service Delivery Support
- Oversee performance and quality of services delivered, ensuring SLA and KPI compliance.
- Conduct regular client reviews to identify enhancement opportunities.
- Manage the execution of secure development and testing services across projects.
- Serve as a point of contact for technical escalations and coordinate with senior stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Support client engagements with documentation, test results, and assessment reports.
- Dev Sec Ops Implementation
- Work with engineering and Dev Ops teams to embed security tools (e. g., SAST, DAST, SCA) into CI/CD pipelines.
- Help maintain and improve automated security testing workflows.
- Support threat modelling and secure design practices at the project level.
- Participate in security reviews of new features and applications.
- Security Testing and Tooling
- Oversee the planning and execution of security tests, including static and dynamic analysis.
- Ensure appropriate tooling is used and maintained, and testing results are actioned.
- Track vulnerability remediation efforts and support developers with secure coding guidance.
- Monitor and report on testing coverage and issue resolution trends.
- Process Improvement
- Contribute to the enhancement of development and testing standards.
- Identify opportunities for automation and improved testing efficiency.
- Track and report on relevant metrics to support continuous improvement.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Security Testing Coverage: Percentage of applications tested using SAST/DAST/SCA tools.
- Vulnerability Remediation Time: Time to resolve high/critical vulnerabilities.
- Dev Sec
Ops Tool Adoption: Use of automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.
- Secure Code Training Completion: Percentage of development team trained.
- Internal Audit Readiness: Compliance with secure development processes.
- Escalation Resolution Time: Time to address technical or process escalations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in leading secure software development, testing, or Dev Sec Ops environments.
- Hands‑on experience with security testing tools (e. g., Veracode, Sonar Qube, Burp Suite, etc.).
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, OWASP Top 10, and threat modelling.
- Experience working in Agile or Dev Ops‑driven environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Relevant security or Dev Sec Ops certifications (e. g., CSSLP, CEH, GWEB) preferred.
- Eligible for SC clearance in the UK.
