A market-leading manufacturer of advanced food processing equipment and systems is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join its growing team based on the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border. Due to continued expansion across both UK and international markets, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a specialist software team responsible for programming, developing, and supporting cutting‑edge processing equipment used worldwide. The role offers exposure to advanced food cooking and cooling systems, including robotics programming, within a highly innovative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming and development of PLC and HMI control systems
- Supporting and improving bespoke automated machinery and equipment
- Assisting with commissioning and technical support for systems both in the UK and overseas
- Working closely with engineering teams on new product development and system enhancements
- Providing software support and troubleshooting where required
Skills & Experience
- Candidates should have experience or knowledge in some of the following areas:
- PLC and HMI programming
- Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs would be advantageous, although experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Omron systems will also be considered
- Familiarity with Structured Text programming
- Knowledge of high-level programming languages such as C#, Java, C++, VB, or Python
- An interest in automation, robotics, and industrial control systems
