We want to create a world where travel is as simple, seamless, eco-friendly and affordable as it should be.
Today, we're a FTSE 250 company driven by our incredible team of over 1,000 Trainliners from 50+ nationalities, based across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. With our focus on growth in the UK and Europe, now is the perfect time to join us on this high-speed journey.
Introducing the Core Tech Team
The company is on a mission to make rail and coach travel simpler and more accessible for millions of people. Behind every seamless customer experience sits Core Tech - the teams that keep our engineers productive, our platforms secure, and our operations running at pace. We're now looking for a Technical Programme Manager to coordinate delivery across our cross-departmental Core Tech programme, coordinating delivery across Workplace IT, Cyber Security, Production Operations, and Developer Experience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who leads through people, not process. You'll help maintain the plan, track dependencies, and keep the rhythm that keeps multiple technical teams moving in the same direction - earning influence by getting into the detail with engineers and stakeholders, building trust, and unblocking work directly rather than through status reports alone. If you're energised by ambiguity, at home in fast-moving agile environments, and genuinely enjoy connecting people to get things done, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role as the Technical Programme Manager, you will...
- Work as the primary program lead for cyber security and coordinate delivery of the Core Tech cross-departmental programme, including the roadmap, milestones, cross-team dependencies, risks, and the reporting that gives leadership a clear and honest view of progress.
- Act as the connective tissue between Workplace IT, Cyber Security, Production Operations, and Developer Experience - running cadences and supporting artefacts, and working relationships that bring separate backlogs into a coordinated programme.
- Plan and coordinate complex, cross-functional technical programmes, translating strategy into clear milestones, owners, and timelines.
- Run the operating rhythm - stand-ups, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives - keeping agile teams focused and moving.
- Get into the technical detail with teams to understand trade-offs, pressure-test plans, and support informed decisions. Build strong, trust-based relationships across engineering, security, operations, and leadership, using those connections to unblock work quickly and elevate early where needed.
- Communicate clearly and consistently, surfacing status, risks, and decisions to both engineers and senior stakeholders and tailoring the message to the audience.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in how Core Tech teams plan and deliver, maintaining lightweight programme artefacts - roadmaps, RAID logs, and dependency maps - that teams genuinely find useful.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
- Experience in technical programme or project management, contributing to the delivery of complex programmes in a software or technology organisation.
- A good technical background that allows you to hold your own in engineering, infrastructure, or security conversations and reason about technical trade-offs.
- Experience with hands-on programme and project management across multiple teams and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to move fluidly between engineers and senior leaders.
- Ability to build networks and drive meaningful working relationships to get things done, including in environments where you hold no formal authority.
- A genuine comfort with agile ways of working, and the confidence to act with a bias toward action on incomplete information.
- Ideally, experience across one or more of Workplace IT, Cyber Security, Production Operations, or Developer Experience and platform engineering.
- It would be helpful if you have a background in a fast-scaling consumer or e-commerce technology business, familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence, or relevant certifications such as PMP, Scrum, or SAFe - though hands-on delivery always matters more than credentials.
