In the Amazon Fire TV team, we are creating the most engaging entertainment platform for the whole family, worldwide. Be part of a fast-paced, agile and innovative team who is delivering new experiences to Fire TV devices in a startup-like environment. We are looking for a passionate, talented Software Development Engineer who can drive key engineering and business decisions that impact Amazon’s long-term vision, including innovation in the delivery and consumption of media and entertainment.

In this development role, you will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of state-of-the-art products used every day, by people you know.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer in the Fire TV team, you will investigate, prototype, and deliver innovative Android-based software applications and features that enhance the customer experience across Fire TV devices. You'll take ownership of end-to-end development — from ideation through deployment — ensuring your solutions are scalable, reliable, and built to last. You’ll champion engineering excellence by instilling best practices across the team, including coding standards, design reviews, and documentation. Working within an Agile/Scrum environment, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure designs meet requirements and that quality is never compromised. Your technical judgment will help shape architectural decisions that have long-term implications for the platform. You’ll also play a key role in driving new initiatives across the organisation, partnering with vendors and on-site teams to support development activities and accelerate delivery. Your ability to work across boundaries — technical and organisational — will be central to the team's success.

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer in the Fire TV team, your day will involve a mix of deep technical work and collaborative problem-solving. You might start with a Scrum stand-up to align on sprint priorities, then spend focused time designing or coding a new Android feature. You'll review pull requests from teammates, engage in architecture discussions with senior engineers, and occasionally sync with vendor partners to unblock delivery. By the end of the day, you'll have moved the needle on something that will reach millions of customers worldwide.

About the team

We're a team of passionate engineers who take pride in what we build and how we build it. We work in an agile, Scrum-based environment where retrospectives and open conversations shape how we operate — because no process is set in stone. We believe in constant, incremental improvement and create space for every team member to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and grow. If you value autonomy, collaboration, and a culture of continuous learning, you'll feel right at home here.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
