Currencycloud was acquired by the company in December 2021. Senior Software Engineers are responsible for implementing an industry‑leading API that has processed over 50 billion USD of cross‑border transactions for more than 5 million end users, and remains available to clients 24/7. We are at the forefront of advancing the platform to meet even greater scale. You will join the FX Routing and Aggregation (FXRA) team, which owns the core FX trading platform powering Currency Cloud’s foreign exchange capabilities. The team manages multiple microservices covering FX pricing, risk management, trade routing, market data integration, and treasury operations. Our stack runs on AWS as a set of distributed applications using Kubernetes, with microservice‑led architecture. We also use Kafka for streaming and PACT for contract testing.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain mission‑critical FX trading services including pricing engines, risk management systems, and market data providers.
- Work with real‑time FX market data from providers such as Barclays and JP Morgan using the FIX protocol.
- Design and implement high‑throughput, low‑latency services handling billions in FX transactions.
- Lead technical discussions around hexagonal architecture, event‑driven patterns, and distributed systems design.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices for the team.
- Own your domain end‑to‑end with clear service boundaries and independent deployment paths.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Trading, and Platform teams across the organization.

Technical Stack & Requirements
- Object‑oriented programming in Java (version 11+), ideally using the Spring Boot framework.
- Highly scalable, highly available cloud‑native applications on AWS, written to 12‑factor principles.
- Cloud‑related tools and services such as Docker, Kubernetes, ElasticSearch, log management systems, and Datadog APM.
- API specifications conforming to the OpenAPI (Swagger) standard.
- Large SQL databases (e.g., MySQL) for persistence; familiarity with SQL and complex queries.
- Infrastructure automation via Terraform and Docker, with knowledge of AWS.
- Testing approaches including TDD, BDD, and contract testing with frameworks such as JUnit, RSpec, and Cucumber.
- Able to work in an Agile environment following the Spotify-style Squads and Tribes model.
- Experience delivering production‑ready code with high quality and reliability.

- Strong SQL knowledge and ability to write complex queries.

Work Environment
