The Technology Department delivers differentiation, scalability and security for the business. Technology provides digital tools, software services and infrastructure globally to all business groups. Software development and support teams work in agile ‘streams' aligned to specific business areas. Our other teams work enterprise‑wide to provide critical services including our global service desk, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, security, enterprise architecture and design.
The Software Development function creates and maintains applications, frameworks and other software components to deliver to business requirements. Developers conceive, specify, design, engineer, document, test, and deliver bug fixes as needed to provide high quality software solutions. Each Development team is aligned to one of the company's business divisions and works with a corresponding Business Technology and Application Support team.
The Role
As a hands‑on Salesforce Developer and Functional Architect, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and delivering end‑to‑end Salesforce solutions, combining strategic functional leadership with hands‑on configuration and build responsibilities. This role bridges business and technology while actively contributing to solution implementation on the platform. The role ensures that business requirements are translated into scalable, user‑centric solutions, while also directly configuring and delivering core platform capabilities such as data models, automation, and security. This position is ideal for professionals who can own the solution from concept through to build and deployment.
Overall Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Architecture
- Define end‑to‑end Salesforce functional solutions aligned with business objectives
- Design scalable data models, business processes, and user journeys
- Ensure solutions adhere to Salesforce best practices and enterprise architecture
- Translate business requirements into high‑level solution designs and functional specifications
- Hands‑On Configuration & Build
- Configure Salesforce platform components including objects, fields, and relationships
- Build automation using Flows, validation rules, and approval processes
- Implement security models (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules)
- Develop reports and dashboards to meet business needs
- Ensure solutions are practical, optimised, and maintainable through direct involvement in build
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Support day‑to‑day Salesforce administrative activities alongside project delivery
- Manage data requests, including data uploads, cleansing, and maintenance
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards to support business insights and decision‑making
- Assist with user management, access requests, and basic system administration tasks
- Respond to ad hoc business requests and provide timely operational support
- Stakeholder Engagement & Requirement Management
- Conduct workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements
- Convert requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance on Salesforce capabilities and constraints
- Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners
- Provide clear functional direction and oversight to vendor teams
- Review and validate vendor deliverables for quality and alignment to standards
- Track vendor performance against scope, timelines, and SLAs
- Act as the primary functional liaison between internal teams and external partners
- Governance & Best Practices
- Establish and enforce Salesforce design and configuration standards
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long‑term strategy
- Maintain documentation and promote consistency across implementations
- Identify and mitigate risks, technical debt, and design gaps
- Delivery, Testing & Support
- Support full delivery lifecycle including build, SIT, UAT, and deployment
- Ensure solutions meet business expectations and quality standards before release
- Provide post‑go‑live support and drive continuous improvements
- Troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements

- Proven ability to design and configure solutions, including objects, fields, flows, validation rules, and security models

- Experience translating business requirements into functional designs, user stories, and solutions
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Hands‑on experience with Salesforce administration, including:
