We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity. From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution — because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas. As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research – designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.

The role

We are hiring a Network Automation Engineer to help transform how networking is delivered across our global infrastructure. You will sit at the intersection of networking and software engineering, building the automation frameworks, APIs and tooling that make our network scalable, self-service and production-ready. This is a hands‑on role where you will design and ship systems that power large-scale compute and research environments.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Building and evolving automation frameworks for network provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Developing infrastructure-as-code solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform and Jinja2
  • Integrating network automation into CI/CD pipelines for reliable, repeatable deployments
  • Creating APIs and self-service tooling for engineering teams
  • Implementing observability and telemetry solutions for performance and reliability
  • Partnering with Network, Platform and Security teams to deliver resilient, scalable systems
  • Contributing to incident response and production reliability

This is an opportunity to redefine how modern networks are managed through clean engineering, automation‑first thinking and systems built to scale.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Confident with Python and solid engineering fundamentals across testing, version control and CI/CD
  • Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, firewalls and protocols
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Jinja2
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Exposure to monitoring, observability or telemetry in distributed systems
  • Pragmatic problem solver who can operate in ambiguity and take ownership
  • Comfortable working in collaborative, fast‑paced engineering teams

Desirable:

  • Experience with event‑driven architectures, such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
  • API design or platform engineering experience
  • Knowledge of service discovery, secrets management or policy‑as‑code
  • Understanding of large‑scale data centre networking, for example with Cisco, Arista, segment routing or multitenancy
  • Contributions to open‑source networking or automation projects

Why should you apply?

  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 30 days’ annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events
