Role Overview
We're looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to help build the platform behind the company's 100% electric parcel delivery network.
- You'll join our
- Customer Experience (CX) Squad
: a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and designers working to make parcel delivery better for everyone involved.
From the senders who trust us with their parcels to the recipients waiting for them.
At the company, we’re building a modern, scalable platform for a delivery network that is cleaner, smarter and more customer‑centric from the ground up.
This role is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to learn quickly, ship meaningful work, and see their code power real‑world experiences every day.
- What you'll be doing
- Build and ship features for our recipient‑facing products, like our live tracking page and real‑time delivery updates.
Used by thousands of customers daily, they keep recipients informed and in control of their deliveries.
- Develop our integrations that enable senders from small shops to large enterprises to work with the company, ensuring rock‑solid reliability to power day‑to‑day operations.
- Take tasks from idea to production: writing the code and tests, and helping monitor what you've shipped.
- Participate in code reviews as both author and reviewer, and proactively identify improvements within the squad's scope.
- Work closely with Product and UX stakeholders, using quantitative and qualitative signals to guide decisions, measure impact, and share learnings with the squad.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or STEM field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proficiency in writing clean, performant, and testable code in a typed language (we use Go).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Highly motivated and hungry to learn; you pick up new technologies quickly and enjoy getting better at your craft.
- A bias toward shipping: you'd rather get something working and improve it than spend weeks on perfection.
- You care about user experience and customer delight, and you want the things you build to feel genuinely good to use.
- Nice‑to‑have
- Experience with building distributed systems and working with cloud platforms (we use AWS).
- Familiarity with databases, cloud stacks, and Infrastructure as Code.
- A side project, open‑source contribution, or piece of work you're proud of.
- Technologies we use
- Golang, Typescipt
- Git Hub, Grafana
- Postgres, Dynamo DB
- AWS (Lambda, SQS, CDK)
- React, Next. js
- Claude Code
- How we reward our team
- Dynamic hybrid working environment with a diverse and driven team.
- Huge opportunity for learning in a high growth environment, with progression opportunities based on success in the role.
- 25 days of holiday allowance plus public holidays.
- 1 Birthday Day Off + 2 Tenure‑Based Additional Days Off.
- Subsidised Private Medical Insurance including dental, vision & mental health therapy.
- Bi‑annual performance reviews and tailored development plans.
- Competitive salary + EMI options scheme.
- Annual compensation review.
- Team lunch provided once a week.
- Quarterly team socials and annual sports day (the company Olympics).
- Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption policy as day 1 right.
- Community volunteer days.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Dog friendly office and depots.
- Mac Book Air or Windows Laptop (depending on your preference).
