Role
In this role the AI Technical Lead will be working within a workstream focused on building an AI / Agentic capability on Azure using Python. The team will shape and deliver an early solution in partnership with the business, establishing the technical foundations, architecture, and product direction for the wider programme. The AI Technical Lead will run the day-to-day of the project, partner closely with architecture, and set the technical direction for an AI / agentic capability built on Azure in Python, working across engineering and product to turn early ideas into a delivered solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the project day-to-day; own delivery, pace, and quality
- Work with architecture to shape the technical approach for AI / agentic systems on Azure
- Lead technical design decisions and code direction in Python & TypeScript
- Partner with the Technical Product Manager to translate business outcomes into a working solution
- Mentor engineers and raise the bar on engineering practice
- Engage client stakeholders with clarity and confidence
Required Experience
- Tech lead experience on delivery-focused teams
- Experience designing and building AI / agentic systems (LLM orchestration, tool use, RAG, evaluation)
- Strong hands-on Python
- Experience with React
- Production experience on Azure (AKS, Functions, App Service, or equivalent)
- Comfortable working with architects and business stakeholders
- Good judgement on trade-offs in ambiguous, early-stage work
Desirable Experience
- Prior work in the UK energy / utilities sector
- Experience evaluating and productionising agentic frameworks (LangGraph, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, etc.)
- Consulting background; comfortable in client-embedded delivery
- MLOps / LLMOps experience on Azure
