About the Programme

This position is part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme funded by Innovate UK. A KTP is a 3‑way collaboration between a graduate (or post‑graduate), a business (or NGO) and a university or research institution. As a KTP Associate, you will lead and deliver an innovation project with Ultrapanel, a subsidiary of the Ultraframe Group. The project will advance design‑to‑manufacturing technologies for off‑site construction and contribute to industry standards. You will receive management skills training and a £5,833 training budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the KTP innovation project in collaboration with Ultrapanel and academic supervisors.
  • Develop a digital solution to enhance the manufacturing and assembly process, aiming to improve productivity, reduce material waste, and enable greater standardisation across building types.
  • Collect and analyse data, design and organise the project, and contribute to peer‑reviewed papers and presentations.
  • Disseminate project results and outputs, ensuring high‑quality collated and written final deliverables.
  • Participate in the academic life of the School through seminars and related events.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical experience in software development and AI, with knowledge of data engineering, integration, and API usage preferred.
  • Experience in leading or actively participating in a project during placement or employment.
  • Understanding of business functions and the ability to work to deadlines independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum education: Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, a closely related subject, or relevant discipline.
