You'll be joining a passionate, professional and highly skilled team of developers who specialise in agile custom software development and integration at an enterprise scale. Innovation in delivery is always at the forefront of our minds, which is why we utilise a variety of Open Source and proprietary technologies to achieve the best possible outcome for the client. We have a world class software engineering community; we invest in doing things right and have plenty to say on the subject.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role:
- Guide engineering teams, promoting platform engineering practices, self‑service enablement, and a strong operational mindset (SRE/DevOps).
- Hands‑on Azure architecture experience aligned to the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure Well‑Architected Framework (WAF), producing pragmatic reference architectures and design decisions.
- Design, build, and operate enterprise‑scale AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) platforms, providing hands‑on Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting across clusters and workloads, including upgrades, capacity planning, reliability engineering, incident response, and ingress or service mesh technologies (for example Envoy and ingress controllers).
- Define and implement Git‑driven delivery models (GitOps) for Kubernetes workloads and platform configuration, using tools such as Flux/Argo CD to enable environment separation, promotion, and traceable change control.
- Support governance and operational controls across Azure estates, including Azure Policy, cost management/FinOps practices, logging/monitoring standards, and secure‑by‑default configurations.
- Design cloud native architectures (microservices and containerised workloads) with appropriate Azure networking (hub‑and‑spoke, VNets, peering, private endpoints) and identity/access using Microsoft Entra ID, suitable for public sector and regulated environments.
Your skills and experience:
- Proven experience as a senior Azure practitioner, with strong judgement in applying the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure Well‑Architected Framework (WAF) to real‑world delivery scenarios, balancing architectural rigour with pragmatism.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) in complex, enterprise environments, including confidence designing for scale, resilience, and long‑term operability rather than just initial build.
- Kubernetes expertise, with the ability to diagnose and resolve platform and workload‑level issues across networking, ingress, service‑to‑service communication, and performance or reliability concerns.
- Experience applying AI‑assisted tooling within DevOps and platform engineering contexts, such as using GitHub Copilot and AIOps capabilities to improve productivity, accelerate troubleshooting, enhance CI/CD pipelines, and support more proactive operational practices.
- Real‑world delivery of Azure governance, policy, and cost management (FinOps) principles, alongside hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (such as Bicep) and GitOps‑based delivery models for AKS.
- Ability to pass security clearance (SC) and demonstrate continuous residence within the United Kingdom for the last five years, as required for this role.
Benefits:
- You will be empowered to explore, innovate, and progress, with access to a ‘learning for life’ mindset, countless training and development opportunities, and certifications from AWS, Microsoft, Harvard ManageMentor, Cybersecurity qualifications and more.
- You’ll work with a range of clients all with a unique set of business, technological and societal ambitions, allowing you to make a real impact across the UK.
- We support wellbeing with trained “Mental Health Champions” and wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy, and we were accredited as a Great Place to Work for Wellbeing in 2024.
EEO and Inclusion: The company is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) under the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme. We are committed to inclusive recruitment and offer interview opportunities to all candidates who declare a disability and meet the minimum essential criteria for the role.
