Our team is at the forefront of large-scale data management, actively contributing to the Apache Iceberg project and helping shape the future of open table formats. We’re focused on making data ingestion patterns from any source system reliable, cost‑effective, and easy to implement while maintaining compatibility with popular analytics engines and ensuring optimal query performance through intelligent partitioning and indexing strategies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced cross‑disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  • Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Take feature specifications and deliver working code that is maintainable and extendable.
  • Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault‑tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
  • Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high‑quality software.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience (non‑internship) in professional software development
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object‑oriented design
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
