The opportunity We are hiring for a Software Engineer to join our Web Platform team here at the company. The company's Web platform lets games and real-time 3D content run in a browser, on any internet connected device. Browsers have advanced enormously in the last few years, browser gaming is going through a revival, and the company Web runtime is the technology that makes it possible. Our work also supports an exciting new partnership with a major platform, which puts what this team builds in front of audiences at a scale few browser platforms reach. You will help maintain and extend the company Web runtime alongside engineers who have spent their careers in this space, including people who helped invent the browser technology we build on. This is not website development. We embed the company inside the browser and work close to the metal across C++, C# and JavaScript. You will have real opportunity to grow, to learn from experienced teammates, and to see your work reach developers all over the world.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Maintain and extend the company Web runtime, contributing features and fixes across the platform
  • Help improve the download size, load time and startup performance of Web builds
  • Develop, profile, debug and optimize across C++, C# and JavaScript
  • Scope your work with your manager and teammates, building on established patterns in the codebase
  • Investigate and fix issues raised by internal teams and by developers shipping on the Web platform
  • Keep pace with the browser's constantly evolving capabilities and bring what you learn back to the team

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on development experience with C++
  • Working familiarity with C# and/or JavaScript
  • Curiosity about how browsers work under the hood, rather than about building websites
  • Ability to profile, debug and optimize native code
  • Effective written/verbal communication within a distributed, multi-functional team
  • A forward thinker who perseveres on low-level problems that take time to unpick

You might also have

  • Exposure to WebAssembly, Emscripten, LLVM or WebGL
  • Experience with real-time 3D or game engines
  • Familiarity with code size optimization or compression techniques

At the company, we want our team members to thrive. We offer a wide range of benefits designed to support well-being and work-life balance.
