Background
In a world turning inwards, it is the diversity of the United Rugby Championship – URC, that sets us apart from other club rugby competitions. We are bigger, bolder, and stronger.
Each week, teams from five rugby powerhouse nations – Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy, and South Africa – cross hemispheres to compete for the right to be champion. Every match brings together contrasting rugby styles, cultures, languages, and identities.
Our mission is to bring fans closer to this drama by using the power of rugby to unite people socially and emotionally. Our brand positioning, A Different League, is a statement of intent to stand apart from other rugby competitions. It reflects the diversity of our teams and supporters, while setting a bold, challenger mindset for the URC brand.
URC Seasons 1, 2 and 3 delivered significant growth across broadcast audiences, first-party data, social media followers, and live attendances. Commercially, the league is stronger than ever, with global brands choosing the URC as a platform to connect with consumers and amplify their message.
The next stage is to deepen the relationship between the URC, our partners, and our fans – offering new and more engaging experiences. To achieve this, the URC is seeking highly motivated, skilled, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of Marketing – Growth & Technology and Senior Marketing Manager, the Digital Platforms Manager will support the management of URC’s fast-growing digital ecosystem. You will play a central role in coordinating the wide range of platforms and providers that power URC’s web, app, OTT, CRM, and fan engagement products, while helping to deliver new digital initiatives that strengthen the league’s offering.
This role requires an organised and proactive individual who can balance day-to-day operational oversight with longer-term project delivery. You will monitor and manage URC’s key technology providers, including Eluvio, WP Engine, WSC, Oval, Two Circles, Auth0, Superbru, Azzuu, AWS, Tata, Apple, Google, and OneSignal, ensuring smooth operations, timely issue resolution, and effective collaboration.
Alongside supporting matchday technology and daily platform operations, you will be involved in the rollout of URC’s new in-house platforms, including the injury surveillance system, the NLP + RAG AI dashboard, and Project Outlier (App + Web + CMS + CDP + Stats).
Crucially, this position offers the opportunity to help shape URC’s technology foundations at a defining moment in its journey. In addition to internal platform delivery, this role plays a vital part in supporting external clients who have adopted URC-developed technology. URC will be developing new products to launch to the market.
The successful candidate will therefore act as a consultant and project lead, working with clubs, federations, and rights holders. You’ll gather requirements, shape delivery plans, liaise with clients and offshore developers, and oversee the successful implementation of digital products. This part of the role requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to speak with clarity and confidence to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your ability to build trust and provide a calm, solutions-focused presence will be key to the role\’s success.
The Candidate
You have experience working with digital platforms and technology providers, with a strong understanding of how they support rights-holders and fans. You have a background in managing or supporting technology ecosystems and can demonstrate success in helping to deliver consistent, reliable services that underpin growth and engagement. This role requires someone who is organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working across multiple platforms at once.
You should bring curiosity and a willingness to learn, alongside the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Equally, you must understand how digital platforms connect; from OTT and apps to CRM and fan engagement, and be eager to play a role in shaping the way URC delivers these services.
The successful candidate will have a positive mindset, be a team player, show confidence in their approach, and be aligned with the URC core values: Aim to Amaze, Be Brave, Lead from your Position, Act as one Team United.
